Vegan MoFo #6: Southern Comfort

Zatarain's jambalaya mix jazzed up with extra spices (cayenne, s&p, garlic & onion powders), add mushrooms, onions and the stems of the kale along with Gardien BBQ skewers chopped up. I usually use sausage but I had this and it worked out great, the bbq sauce gave it a good saucey texture.

I cooked the kale by steaming it then cooking with a little vegetable stock, red wine vinegar, s&p and fresh garlic. I sometimes make this meal with collard greens, whatever greens I have in the fridge.

Lazy rolls from one of those cardboard pop tubes, they came out alright (especially with some margarine)!

Vegan MoFo #4: Golden Road Grand Opening

Sunday October 16th was the Grand Opening for Golden Road Brewing! Check out the website for more details. This was actually my first time visiting a brewery and it was fun to have it right here in Los Angeles. I can't wait for them to finish building their brew pub so I can go there again (and again.. and again..).

Vegan MoFo #3: Breakfast Burrito

The breakfast burrito is one of the best foods ever invented (after pizza and regular burritos). I make these babies almost every morning. They are always slightly different, depending on what I have in the fridge and how much greasy goodness I am craving.

This is the "No Vegetables Allowed" Breakfast Burrito:

Vegetarian refried beans
Tofu "eggs"
Potato wedges
Flour burrito size tortilla
hot sauce!!!

Vegan Mofo Post #2: Chkn Pot Pie

Yesterday was a rainy fall day in Los Angeles aka perfect comfort food weather! I made this Vegan Chicken Pot Pie from Vegan Dad. I love this site because his recipes are easy and delicious!

I modified it by adding 1 cup of white mushrooms, store bought puff pastry and instead of seitan used Gardien Chick'n Scallopini.

Bad Blogger Update: National Taco Day, Lost Pix & Vegan MoFo Intro!

This is my first year signing up for Vegan Mofo! I'm planning on blogging more about the comfort food I love to make and, since I have been getting more into beer, include beer pairings in some posts. Check back soon!

Today apparently is National Taco Day, so I made some tacos! Onion, bell pepper, zucchini, potato, fresh tomato, avocado, tofu, Gimmie Lean sausage crumbles

Here are some pictures I have taken recently (some with my cell phone) that have gotten lost in the mix:

Mohawk Bend - First Day of Beer Flights

We ordered both of their flights being offered that night:

In State - Lagunitas Lil Sumpin Wild, Port Hot Rocks, Steel DIPA, Stone 15th IBA

Out of State - (All Grand Teton Brewing) The Grand Saison, Bitch Creek ESB, Lost Continent DIPA, Pursuit of Hoppiness Imp. Red

And since we are beer geeks, scored them (highest to lowest):

In State - Stone 15th, Hot Rocks, Lil Sumpin, Steelhead DIPA

Out of State - Lost Continent DIPA, Bitch Creek, Pursuit of Hoppiness, Grand Saison

Veggie Grill - Nachos with steak added, Chikn Caesar wrap & side of chilli

Western Bacn Cheez Burger (side of fries)
Fried Chikn Plate (gravy on the side)

Fried Oreos with Ice Cream

LA Vegan Beer Fest #2!

The Second Annual LA Vegan Beer Fest at The Roxy on the Sunset Strip was SOOO much fun! If you missed it then... I don't know what to tell you. Great beer, ALL vegan food, good bands, friendly attendees. The only negative was a got sunburned, meh. I went with fellow American Hot Pants blogmate @HelloDianaMarie. We got there early (VIP.. you know..) and stayed until the end so there was plenty of time for eating and drinking. Sadly we didn't get to try all of the food (Veg-It-Up, Luscious Organic Desserts, Franken's, Fresh Fries or Mandoline Grill) and I am probably missing a lot of the beers, but there were so many! Also check out my recap of last years LAVBF. Enjoy!

VIP Lounge -
In the VIP section they have 2 or 3 beers they don't offer outside.
The glasses were different (I liked last years better).

BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwhich
Beer Battered Avocado Tacos

Franken's -

colLAboration had a booth where you could purchase glasses for the upcoming beer gardens

After Seabirds we ONLY ate Doomie's because it's delicious and cheap. The best deal ever.

Fresh Fries & Mandoline Grill trucks -

Poquito Potito from Doomie's (mashed potatoes, cheese, bacon & green onions DEEP FRIED)

Eel River -

Doomie was walking around in an adorable bunny outfit informing everyone about corn dogs.. how could we NOT get a corn dog!

another one of Diana's sweet temp tats (from Hemp Ale)

After the fest we went to Cinespia at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery to watch the Warriors! We grabbed a bag of kettle corn from Mad Kettler to snack on during the movie. smart.
